Pan's in London?

Take a look at this (if you would be so kind), and tell me if you think it means that Pan's Labyrinth is coming to the Hyland in February. Note that the other two movies with little pictures down there are either currently playing, or on the "coming soon" list. The only mention of Pan's Labyrinth on the entire site is that little suggestive picture. I don't want to get my hopes up.

No sign of it, even by hacking the URL.

No sign of Perfume either.

And neither one appears in the Rainbow's current art series flyer. Welcome to the winter lull.

I'm still holding out hope for Pan's at the Hyland. Why would they put a picture of it on their calendar if it is never, ever coming? So maybe it won't be until March or something dreadful but I have my fingers crossed.

I don't know about Perfume, it certainly looks like something I'd enjoy but the trailer was just really ... off-putting.

Pan's does seem to be ramping up for "wide" release on the 19th, and Hyland doesn't have anything on their calendar past the 18th... hmm....

Re Perfume, Tykwer tends to have a different spin on things, but the thing that really got me interested was Ebert's (not Emerson's) 4-star review. They're few and far between these days, so it's an extra pleasure to see a non-Emerson review posted to the site.

The winter film situation here in town is a lot better than it was a few years ago. In December 2001 there were only eleven first-run films showing---the first Harry Potter alone was on a third of the screens and even Black Knight (shudder) was showing 33 times a week, but Amelie, Waking Life, Mulholland Drive and about 10 others in relatively wide release hadn't yet appeared in the city. Today there are about twice as many first-runs on slightly fewer screens, and a lot of them are "smaller" pics.
