Bearable Love Songs

I bet I know what you’re thinking: if ever there was a post I didn’t want to read, this is it. Do not worry, your pain will be brief and I can assure you there are no overly sappy songs. I was just thinking on the way home the other day while listening to one of the songs below that these four are truly the only love songs I enjoy and have never gotten sick of.

Layla – Eric Clapton
Wild Horses – Rolling Stones
In Your Eyes – Peter Gabriel
Heart of Gold – Neil Young

Which version of Layla, plugged or unplugged?

Actually I was thinking, "Holy crap! Tammy posted twice to her blog in the same month!!!" :-)

I tried to think of some other love songs that I really like - you got my favourite, with "In Your Eyes" - and couldn't come up with one. I guess "Sally" by The Police doesn't count, on a technicality (since it's an inflatable woman)? And speaking of the Terrific Trio, I wonder how many people from my generation would list "Every Breath You Take" as a fave love song.. without ever realizing what a creepy, stalker-ish tune it really is (since you'd have to listen to and consider the lyrics to know that, after all!)

I don't like anything acoustic. Instruments were meant to be plugged in, I say!

Also, I hate that, too ... when people think that clearly depressing/creepy songs are love songs. There are a million examples, one of the most common being U2's One or The Kinks' Lola.
